Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)

Mostly terrible but hard to avoid when you live in the Northeast and travel to Canada often.

Hub for AirCanada and WestJet. Arrivals and departures but mostly connections.

Current Grade: B+ (March 2019)

YYZ is a very common connection point between New York and Vancouver, which is a trip I take often. For the first 6 months of traveling I thought it was my best option. Then once I connected through O'Hare and took a redeye back through Seattle and when even THAT was better I knew I'd been kidding myself. Here's why:

  1. You have to go through border control AND security again. Lesson learned... Whenever possible, only cross a border to your final destination! In Europe this is obviously hard to do, but going to Canada? Many options. (Side note though, the trip back to the US at off times is really easy here.)

  2. The amenities when you get through are weird and cut off here based on whether you're on the Canadian side or the US side. Best you can get sometimes is Tim Horton's.

Anyway, because I actively avoid it, I didn't get the chance to review until March 2019! But here we are. It wasn't as bad as I remembered. B+.
